Michael Eckert competed during the 2012 American Ninja Warrior southeast regional in Miami, Fla., April 17, 2012. Eckert placed fifth and later competed in the finals. After enlisting in the Marine Corps in March 2013, Eckert requalified in 2014 and competed a second time in the American Ninja Warrior finals in Las Vegas, Nev.
On October 11, 2015 while at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Michael Eckert broke the original record of 44 pull ups in one minute with a performance record of 50 pull ups.
